Ryan Clifford’s ADS 560 students planned an open collage workshop to engage with the surrounding community. The experience, deliverables, and events were fully designed and executed by students.
After months of planning, the KU Rad Lab opened its doors to passersby to find time for creativity. Printed invites covered the KU campus and downtown Lawrence area to spread the word. On the day of the event, I helped guide participants through each step of the workshop with other classmates.
After the workshop, the class scanned each collage and worked together to create a gallery book with each participant's photo and artwork. Each book is RISO printed on colorful cardstock and hand bound with lots of love.
The gallery show celebrated makers in our community and brought everyone together over artwork. It was a very fulfilling event and I'd love to work on more projects like this in the future.
